Amanda Shell has had the creative bug her whole life. Being raised in a creative environment, she saw no boundaries on what life can offer and the same goes for her art. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Crafts from Kent State University, Amanda soon returned to school to become certified to work in the field of recreational therapy specializing in working with those living with Alzheimer’s disease. After six years of working with such loving individuals, the creative urges continued to call Amanda…she combined her two loves by painting murals in nursing homes to assist in offering creative and dignified ways to re-direct those living with dementia from secured exit doors and other unsafe areas while adding beauty and pizzazz to the nursing home environment. As life goes, one thing led to another and soon people who saw these murals asked for creative murals in their own homes and children’s rooms…and thus, in 2000, whirleygirl designs was born!
Currently living in Chicago, Amanda continues to paint murals in residential and commercial setting within the city and greater Chicagoland area. She is also very excited to offer many unique and quirky hand-painted creations in her shop…she is continually adding new items so you never know what you may find!
"It is my ultimate hope that the art I create brings with it the spirit of joy, creativity, and whimsy!”
